The guesthouse was originally founded by Marie Fick, whose name remains associated with this special place to this day. In 2003, Sigrid and Frank Winkler took over the historic building that once housed the restaurant and butcher shop "Zum Ochsen", and over the course of more than two decades, they poured their heart and soul into transforming it into a lovingly run pension. Through numerous renovations, modern bathrooms, freshly redesigned rooms, and comprehensive upgrades - including fire safety improvements - the guesthouse has been gradually enhanced for its guests without losing any of its original charm.
Since mid-2026, the Beyer family has been running this special house. Their connection with the Winkler family has existed for many years - an acquaintance turned into a friendship, and that trust ultimately led to the pension being handed over to new hands.
From now on, the host is Hanna, the head of the family, who takes care of the rooms and the breakfast - which is famous far beyond Forchtenberg - with great joy and attention to detail. She is supported by her entire family, who assist on weekends and wherever a helping hand is needed.
Our wish is to continue the legacy of the pension with respect: to preserve what has stood the test of time, to carefully introduce new elements, and to offer our guests a place where they feel welcome from the very first moment.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Sigi and Frank Winkler for the many years of dedication, creativity, and tireless work they have invested in this place. Without their love for the pension, it would not be what it is today. We are also grateful to them for their warm welcome, their great willingness to help, and the time they took to prepare us for this new chapter and train us. This trust means a lot to us, and we look forward to continuing their lifetime's work with the same passion.
